Week 1 — Setup
- Install LangPanda or Language Reactor browser extension
- Set up an Anki account and install the desktop app (free)
- Choose your first show — pick something you've already seen in English
- Enable dual subtitles: target language on top, English below
- Set a daily minimum: 20 minutes of immersion counts
Week 2–4 — First Words
- Mine 5–10 new sentences per episode into Anki
- Review Anki cards daily — keep sessions under 15 minutes
- Pause and look up words that appear 3+ times in one episode
- Don't look up every word — tolerance for ambiguity is a skill
- Track your episode count — consistency beats intensity
Month 2+ — Scaling
- Switch to a show you haven't seen before (harder but more effective)
- Aim for 1 hour of immersion per day when possible
- Add a second show in a different genre for vocabulary variety
- Start shadowing: repeat lines out loud immediately after hearing them
- Join a language exchange community to test your output
