The current official LingQ language list
LingQ's expanded public directory listed the following 52 languages when verified on September 5, 2026: English, French, Spanish, Japanese, Italian, German, Russian, Chinese, Portuguese, Korean, Swedish, Dutch, Polish, Greek, Finnish, Norwegian, Czech, Arabic, Hebrew, Turkish, Latin, Romanian, Esperanto, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Catalan, Bulgarian, Persian, Danish, Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi, Cantonese, Croatian, Hungarian, Armenian, Indonesian, Icelandic, Malay, Slovak, Serbian, Tagalog, Swahili, Afrikaans, Georgian, Slovenian, Macedonian, Vietnamese, Khmer, Taiwanese Mandarin, Irish Gaelic, and Urdu.
Why breadth changes the decision
LingQ's language directory reaches well beyond the major languages normally used in video-subtitle comparisons. For a learner working on a language in the long tail of that 52-language list, the reading-and-listening platform is often more relevant than a tool built around a specific streaming workflow.
That does not make LingQ a subtitle extension. It is a separate reading-and-listening route, with a built-in library plus an import engine for texts, ebooks, and other content.
Content depth and importing
LingQ's built-in library includes Mini Stories, graded courses, news feeds, and books. Mini Stories are available across most languages, while the import engine supports a learner's own reading material for any supported language.
The combination gives the platform two ways to start: use the library for a ready-made reading path, or import material already worth reading or listening to. The free tier remains capped at 20 saved LingQs total and 5 imported lessons, so treat it as a workflow test rather than an unlimited free plan.
Big language questions
Yes: Japanese, Korean, and Spanish are all in the live verified directory. The full list above is the safer reference point for every other language question, because it is drawn directly from LingQ's current public language directory rather than a remembered or abbreviated list.
